How the Online Eye Test Works
The visual-acuity test displays progressively smaller letters. You test the right eye, left eye, and both eyes while following the recommended viewing-distance instructions.

What Does 20/20 Vision Mean?
20/20 is commonly used as a reference level for normal distance visual acuity. A result such as 20/40 means that the tested person needs a larger letter size than someone who can read the 20/20 line under comparable testing conditions.
Is an Online Eye Test a Diagnosis?
No. An online eye test is a screening tool and cannot diagnose eye disease or determine an eyeglass prescription.
When Should You Have a Professional Eye Examination?
Consider professional evaluation if your screening repeatedly shows reduced vision, one eye performs significantly differently from the other, or you have concerns about your eyesight.
